Host Color: A Web hosting company since 2000, Host Color offers Shared Accounts, Reseller Hosting, Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated Hosting from one of the most wired telecommunication buildings in new York – 111 8th Avenue, which has recently been acquired by Google.

I’m hosting a number of Shared accounts and a VPS in HostColor.com data centers for more than 6 years and thee have been a reliable provider. The company offers web hosting from 4 different data centers – 111 8th Ave in NYC, a facility located in Indiana, near Chicago and 2 data centers in Europe (check Host Color’s Europe Hosting services).

Host Color customer support responds promptly to support tickets (usually within 15 minutes after the ticket was opened). The company uses Supermicro based redundant hardware platforms and runs CentOS, CloudLinux (an innovative Linux OS add-0n), KSplice (updates servers without reboots and downtime), cPanel/WHM, Softaculous software library and some other applications to power Shared Hosting. The web host’s VPS hosting services are based on Xen, OpenVZ and KVM virtualization.

HostMist.com: HostMist offers web hosting service since 2008. It is a Seattle, WA based company which has NY based servers. It offers reasonably priced Shared Hosting plans at fair prices hosted in a data center based at 100 William Street in New York. This is the facility in which NYI.net is located. The Reseller accounts of the company are also sold at low cost. HostMist also offers VPS and Dedicate servers at good prices, however they seem to be hissed in Atlanta, LA. Seattle and in Germany. My advise is to contact them and ask you questions. They are supposed to respond promptly to you support ticket. My experience with this company is good at the moment.

Fake “New York Based” Web Hosts

There is a choosing company which name is Nycheaphosting.com. If you ping it’s website, you will see that it is hosted on server with IP 112.137.166.230, which is in Malaysia. The web host claims to offer phone support through Miami based U.S. phone number – 305-381-2192. Based on this I’d say “Fake New York web host”.

Another company which has its domain based on New York web hosting related keywords is Newyorkhosting.com. The real name of the web host is” Inet7 Internet Services Inc.” and it looks to be a serious, well-established hosting provider. However it is located in Minnesota. Please note that I have categorized this company in the “Fake New York” web hosts section, only because it uses a domain name which has anything to do with the data center in which it seems to host customers websites. If you want a NYC hosted account and you find this company reliable, my suggestion is to call its phone number and to ask does it have NYC based facilities.
