Telehouse America opened its latest New York-based data center and colocation facility on Jan. 24. It is located in the heart of the Chelsea, in Manhattan. The new facility is a carrier-neutral data center, third of its kind for the company in New York City. Telehouse operates data centers in downtown Manhattan and on Staten Island as well as 39 facilities in 10 countries.
The new Telehouse building offers its customers a choice between 10 distinctive telecommunications providers, including Time Warner Cable, Verizon, and AT&T. Telehouse says in its press release that the tenants of the DC can connect to premium bandwidth providers at the lowest possible price via best-in-class DSR-MDF-IDF cabling infrastructure. The can facility can house 600 cabinets and total power capacity of 4.15 mVA, according to a Telehouse official news release.
Telehouse announced that all data systems in the facility are protected and supported by the company’s N+1 power infrastructure and by high-level redundancy and security standards, including 24/7 security and technical support personnel, backup power distribution systems, cooling technology and perimeter mantrap with biometric access.
The new data center facility is located at 85 10th Avenue in Chelsea. It provides tenants with access to the New York International Internet eXchange, which is the NYC’s most comprehensive and active IP peering exchange that includes more than 135 members. Clients can access the 60,000 square foot facility at any time.
